Shoe Aid for AfricaMost people know the KIWI shoe polish; one of Sara Lee’s Products. In partnership with Planet Aid UK and Humana People to People KIWI donated 16000 pair of shoe to people in Mozambique.A truely People to People action.
In the spring of 2008 our sister organization ‘Humana Spain’ distributed shoes in Malawi, initiated by Sara Lee’s Spanish HQ. It was a great success, and Sara Lee’s British team decided to launce ‘Shoe for Africa’. They arranged a true ‘People to People Action’; involving children to donate shoes in 200 schools in UK. The shoes were brought to Planet Aid UK’s sorting centre in Corby.
In November Planet Aid UK’s sorting team started, together with Sara Lee’s marketing team to sort all the collected shoes and packed them ready for shipment to Mozambique. It was a great day where we all enjoyed each others company.
Most people know the KIWI shoe polish; one of Sara Lee’s Products. In the end of February the shoes arrived to Beira, a northern port in Mozambique. The distribution was done by ADPP Mozambique durint April. The shoes are distributed to families in the TCE areas, to orphans and to schools. In total 16000 pair of good shoes.
Humana People to People’s operation in Mozambique has a significant impact of the development of the country. With 11 teacher training colleges, Vocational training, One World University, TCE, Child Aid and Farmers Club, ADPP is reaching out to thousands of people in Mozambique
