Our Climate, Our Challenge 2014

On Saturday 27th September 2014 a free event is taking place at the DAPP UK Charity Shop on Abington Street in Northampton. For the second year running the focus for the day is 'Our Climate, Our Challenge' and the event will include a lively display of Zimbabwean dancing and singing by the Zimwomen of Northampton, a short documentary film about Farmer's Clubs in Guinea Bissau, a fashion show of second hand clothes and a presentation by a volunteer who worked in Zambia for six months earlier this year and was involved in a tree-planting action during their time there. Light refreshments will also be provided for those attending the event.

The charity shop itself is open from 10am until 5.30pm and we intend to have two sessions in the afternoon lasting approximately one hour each. Both sessions will be the same (so we are expecting people to only attend one or the other!) and the first one will begin at around 1pm and the second at around 3pm.

We will also be collecting donations from the general public in support of our own tree-planting action due to take place in the Corby area later this year and will be encouraging people to join us for volunteer tree-planting days in December. We have agreed with Humana People to People in Zimbabwe that for every tree planted in this country 10 more will be planted in our projects in Africa. We intend to plant approximately 500 trees and feel that this agreement provides a definite link between the important actions being carried out on two continents simultaneously. The tree-planting action is very much an extension to our event in which we encourage people to actually do something positive by getting involved.
